WiMAX is the acronym for Worwide Interoperability for Microwave Access.

WiMAX is a wireless digital communication and better known as IEEE 802.16e, which is intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks".

WiMAX can provide braodband wireless access up to 50KM radius, and able to deliver capacity of up to 40 Mbps per channel for fixed and portable access applications.

W1MAX versus WiFi

WiMAX operate very similar to WIFI but at higher speed, covers greater distances, cater for greater number of subscribers and on the 2.3Ghz spectrum.

WiMAX and WiFi are both wireless broadband access. However, both standards are aimed at different applications.

  1. Follow the Initial P1 W1MAX Modem Setup.
  2. If you are using a Desktop/Laptop, connect the Ethernet cable to the relevant ports in your Desktop/Laptop. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to P1 W1MAX Modem.
  3. Proceed with P1 W1MAX Modem Installation Guide; Ethernet connection.
  4. Click on the Internet Explorer. Congratulations! You are now connected to the Internet via P1 W1MAX!

  4. After the P1 W1MAX Modem Installation, connect the Ethernet cable to your Router. (Most Routers does not need any configuration.) Connect the RJ45 cables to each Desktop/Laptop, connecting one end to the Router.
  5. Click on the Internet Explorer. Congratulations! You are now connected to the Internet via P1 W1MAX!!

  4. After the P1 W1MAX Modem Installation, connect the Ethernet cable to the WiFi Access Point (AP). Most WiFi APs comes with a self-installation CD for quick configuration / setup. Follow the Installation Setup that is provided.
  5. Connect each Laptop. Check for your AP’s SSID.
  6. Click on the Internet Explorer. Congratulations! You are now connected to the Internet via P1 W1MAX!!

1.8 WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO SUBSCRIBE FOR P1 W1MAX SERVICES?

• Anyone with a valid IC or passport number is eligible to register and subscribe to the services.

1.9 CAN I HAVE MORE THAN ONE P1 W1MAX ACCOUNT/SUBSCRIPTION?

• YES. You can have more than one P1 W1MAX account/subscription, to a maximum of 4 accounts.

1.10 DEFINITION OF TERMS

• Best Effort : Customers are able to use the service up to the subscribed speed. The broadband service is provided on a best effort basis and on a shared basis. However, P1 shall endeavour to provide best possible services to subscribers. In addition, P1 is commited to the Fair Usage Policy to ensure fairness among subscribers to receive the best performance for a competitive price. • Professional Installation: This is an optional service that is rendered by P1 to customers who prefer professional installation service. P1 professional installers will bring the modem and visit the customer’s premise for a successful installation. Appointments will be arranged with the customers prior to the installation process. A one-time professional installation charge of RM 80 will apply. • Paper Bill: By default, P1 provides an online notification of the monthly bills sent to customers email. Customers are able to view bills online through their Self Care. However, if customers prefer hard copy bills via post mail, this optional service shall be purchased. Hard copy bills will be sent to customers billing address monthly. A charge of RM 5 per month will apply. • Nationwide Access: By default, customers can use the service within 50 km radius from their registered service address. However, if customers prefer to use the service beyond this radius, anywhere within P1 coverage areas in Malaysia, this optional service shall be purchased. A charge of RM10 per month will apply.

1.10 IS THERE A MINIMUM CONTRACT PERIOD ?

• P1 W1MAX offers different packages for your different needs. The contract period will depend on the package that is offered.

1.13 HOW LONG WOULD I NEED TO WAIT FOR MY P1 W1MAX SERVICES TO BE ACTIVATED? • Your P1 W1MAX service normally will be activated in 2 hours time, to a maximum of 12 hours from the date you submit your application form.

1.17 IS THERE A WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE P1 W1MAX MODEM?

• YES! Your P1 W1MAX Modem comes with a warranty of 12 months from the date of purchase.

1.19 WHAT DO I OBTAIN UPON SUCCESSFUL SUBSCRIPTION OF P1 W1MAX SERVICES?

• Upon successful subscription to P1 W1MAX services, you will obtain a box containing the P1 W1MAX Modem. The box includes one Installation Guide, one P1 W1MAX Modem, one Power Adapter and one Ethernet Cable.

1.20 DO I NEED TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT?

• No. You don’t need to purchase any additional equipment to enjoy P1 W1MAX services (for 24 months package).

1.21 DO I NEED A PHONE LINE TO USE P1 W1MAX SERVICES?

• No. You do not need a phone line to use P1 W1MAX services since it’s a stand-alone wireless modem.

1.22 HOW DO I SET UP MY WIRELESS ACCESS POINT WITH P1 W1MAX?

1.23 HOW DO I PAY MY MONTHLY ACCESS FEE?

1.24 WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DON’T PAY MY MONTHLY ACCESS FEE?

• Your service will be suspended until you settle your overdue payments. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

1.25 WHAT IS P1’S SERVICE SATISFACTION GUARANTEE?

• P1 W1MAX promises a rich user experience and the freedom to surf from many new places. As a show of sincerity in providing the best of broadband to you, all customers are entitled to a 15-day Service Satisfaction Guarantee.

1.26 WHAT WILL I GET?

• A full refund on charges if they find P1 W1MAX services unsatisfactory. • A refund on the P1 W1MAX Modem is necessary. Please note that a RM50 administrative fee will be charged for this. • All refunds will be made within 15 days from the termination of services. Termination of P1 W1MAX services must be made within x number of days. • Also, please read our Service Satisfaction Guarantee Terms & Conditions.

1.27 CAN I UPGRADE MY SERVICE PLANS?

• Yes. You have the option to upgrade your Service Plan. Please contact P1 Care Line to get more information. Terms and Conditions apply.

1.28 IF I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE, CAN I TERMINATE?

1.29 CAN I TERMINATE MY SERVICE BEFORE MY CONTRACT PERIOD ENDS?

• Yes. You may terminate your service when you want to. However, if you have not completed your contract period, you will need to pay a penalty of the remaining contract period or the price of the P1 W1MAX Modem as per market price on the date of your Service Registration, whichever is lower.

1.30 IF I TERMINATE DURING SERVICE SATISFACTION GUARANTEE, HOW WILL I GET MY REFUND?

• Your refund will be given to you via cheque within 45 days from the date of termination.

1.31 DO I NEED TO GIVE A NOTICE PERIOD BEFORE I WISH TO TERMINATE MY SERVICE WITH P1?

• Yes, you will need to give P1 a written notice of 30-days in advance prior to your service termination. This written notice must reach P1 30-days before the termination date requested by you.

1.32 WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER self care Account?

• Individuals that subscribe to any P1W1MAX with valid IC or passport number and a valid hand phone number are eligible to create an self care account.

1.34 WHAT DO I NEED TO REGISTER?

• All you need is an Internet connection and a P1 W1MAX modem, WiFi-enabled laptop, PC, or PDA.

1.35 WHAT DO I GET WHEN I REGISTER?

• You will get your user ID and password (sent via SMS to your registered phone number) at the end of the registration.

1.36 DOES P1 IMPOSE A LIMIT ON ITS CUSTOMERS’ DATA USAGE?

• There is a limit of twenty (20) Gigabytes (GB) of date usage per month (upload and download) for P1’s standard fixed broadband service. Our customers’ usage is monitored on a daily basis and the usage is calculated based on the total usage for the last 30 days. Based on normal usage trends, most customers will not exceed this limit, unless large volumes of data are constantly uploaded and downloaded, or peer to peer and file sharing applications are used. As a comparison, using 20 Gigabytes of data per month is equivalent to downloading approximately more than 6,000 songs per month. This limit is set in addition to the Fair Usage Policy to ensure the best possible experience in terms of speed, quality and reliability for our customers.

1.38 CAN I RESELL P1 W1MAX SERVICES?
